Countable and Uncountable Error Correction
B1 Level
This countable and uncountable error correction exercise focuses on noun
choices that often look small but change the whole sentence: pluralising uncountable
nouns, adding a before nouns that cannot take it, and choosing a natural
partitive such as a piece of, a bit of, or
some when the noun cannot be counted directly.
Wrong: "The website gives several useful advices for travellers." Correct: "The website gives several useful pieces of advice for travellers."
Wrong: "We bought a new furniture for the flat." Correct: "We bought some new furniture for the flat."
Some sentences are already correct, so avoid changing every noun that feels suspicious. Check whether the noun is countable, uncountable, plural countable, or being used with a measuring phrase. The best correction keeps the original meaning, including the intended quantity.
