Advanced Mixed Passive Voice Exercises
B2-C1 Level
These advanced mixed passive voice exercises combine all passive tenses with
modal passives and complex structures. You will encounter modal passives (can be
done, must be completed, should have been finished), reporting verb passives (It is
said that..., He is believed to...), and double object passives where a sentence
has two possible passive forms.
The challenge at this level is choosing the most natural and appropriate passive form for each context. For example, "People believe she is innocent" can become "It is believed that she is innocent" (impersonal) or "She is believed to be innocent" (personal). Past modal passives express criticism or regret: "The mistake should have been caught earlier." Advanced passive structures also include the passive infinitive ("This needs to be checked") and the passive gerund ("She doesn't like being told what to do"). These exercises target B2-C1 learners preparing for Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced, or IELTS Band 6.5-7.5 and cover the full range of passive constructions tested in these exams.
