Grammar review
A reported question works like a statement: put the subject before the verb, drop any do, does or did that only makes the question (a negative keeps didn't), and use no question mark: Sam asked how much the bread cost. With no question word, add if or whether: Nina wanted to know whether the bakery sold cakes.
