Reported Speech Final Test
B2-C1 Level
This comprehensive 30-question final test assesses your mastery of
every reported speech topic covered in this module: tense backshift across all tenses,
pronoun changes, time and place shifts, yes/no questions with if/whether, WH questions
with statement word order, commands and requests, modal verb transformations, and
advanced special cases including passive voice and inversions. The questions progress
in difficulty throughout the test.
The first ten questions are medium difficulty, covering core transformations that every learner should know. Questions eleven to twenty-five are harder, requiring multiple simultaneous changes in each sentence. The final five questions test the most complex structures — mixed conditionals, emphatic inversions, and special reporting verbs. A score of 70% (21/30) or higher demonstrates solid command of reported speech at B2-C1 level. Before taking this test, we recommend completing all individual topic exercises first. This test mirrors the transformation tasks found in Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced, and IELTS examinations, making it excellent preparation for real exam conditions.
