Am, is, and are are the present forms of the
verb to be. Use am with I: "I am a student." Use is with
he, she, it, and one person or thing: "She is my sister" or "It is
cold." Use are with you, we, they, and more than one person
or thing: "They are from Brazil." These forms describe names, ages, feelings, jobs, places,
nationalities, and simple facts.
