Past Simple Dictation: Regular and Irregular Verbs

Past simple dictation asks you to hear whether a finished action uses a regular ending, an irregular past form, or did with a base verb. For regular verbs, written -ed can sound like the final sound in watched or played, or like an extra syllable in visited. Do not wait to hear the letters themselves.

The check I use is: find the time clue, then listen to the whole verb. Irregular forms such as bought, went, ate, and wrote must be learnt as complete words. After did or didn't, listen for the base form, not another past form.
