Food and Drink Containers Exercises

A2 Level

Food and drink containers are partitives that name how food is served, sold, or eaten. This A2 exercise practises common restaurant, shopping, and kitchen phrases: a cup of tea, a glass of orange juice, a packet of pasta, a jar of jam, a slice of pizza, a bottle of wine, a bowl of cereal, and a can of tuna. These phrases are practical because they appear in menus, recipes, supermarket labels, everyday requests, and simple conversations at home.

Use a / an or number + food or drink container or portion + of + noun. Choose by shape, serving style, and packaging. Liquids may come in cups, mugs, glasses, bottles, jugs, or cartons. Food may come in packets, jars, cans, bowls, slices, loaves, pots, cloves, spoonfuls, or pats. For A2 learners, focus first on common menu, recipe, shopping, and ordering phrases before rarer measures. Keep the noun after "of" natural for the container.
