Gerunds and Infinitives: Final Test
A2-C1 Level
This comprehensive test covers all gerund and infinitive patterns from A2 to C1
level. You will be tested on basic verb patterns (A2-B1), meaning-change verbs (B1-B2),
advanced structures including bare infinitives, preposition + gerund, and perfect forms
(B2-C1). The questions are arranged in order of difficulty, starting with easier items and
becoming progressively harder. Your score will help you identify which areas need more
practice.
To do well, remember the key patterns that examiners test most often: common gerund verbs (enjoy, finish, avoid, suggest) vs common infinitive verbs (want, decide, hope, offer), meaning-change pairs (remember/forget doing vs to do, stop doing vs to do), the "to trap" (look forward to doing, be used to doing), and special structures (make someone do, would rather do). At advanced levels, perfect forms (to have done, having done) and passive forms (to be done, being done) are also tested. Completing this assessment is excellent preparation for Cambridge examinations from B1 Preliminary through C1 Advanced.
