Mixed Wh-ever Words Exercises
B2 Level

The best strategy is to identify the missing idea before choosing the word. If the sentence mentions candidates, callers, or designers, think person. If it mentions rooms, countries, or spaces, think place. If it mentions cost, difficulty, speed, or tiredness, check whether however is followed by an adjective or adverb. Limited groups such as two payment plans or three report versions usually need whichever. Negative clauses do not change the category: "Whatever the team tries, they cannot fix it" is still about unrestricted actions. This review builds accuracy across all six choices in varied sentence patterns and exam-style contexts.
Quick Rule
whatever = thing/action | whoever = person | wherever = place | whenever = time | whichever = limited choice | however + adjective/adverb = degree
- 1.Whoever left the projector on should return to the room.
- 2.Whatever the engineers try, the fault does not disappear.
- 3.You can work wherever you feel most focused.
- 4.Whenever the client calls, record the details carefully.
- 5.Choose whichever report version includes the latest figures.
