Adverbs Of Frequency Advanced Word Order Exercises

B1 Level

Advanced frequency-adverb word order adds helper verbs, negatives, perfect forms, modal verbs, and longer phrases. The adverb usually goes after the first helper verb and before the main verb: "She has always been helpful", "I have never visited that museum", and "She can always find her keys." In negative sentences, placement can change slightly depending on whether the adverb belongs before or after not.

The main skill is finding the verb group. In a simple sentence, there may be only one verb. In advanced sentences, the verb group can include has been, have visited, can find, or does not usually work. Put the frequency adverb inside that group in the natural position, then arrange objects and time phrases afterwards. This B1 page prepares you for real sentences where adverb position depends on helpers, modals, negatives, and sentence length rather than only one simple verb.
