Ellipsis & Substitution Dictation: Omitting Repeated Actions
B1 Level
English Exercises is teacher-led by Charlie. About the teacher · How content is made
Listen carefully to the first action, because the second clause may leave it unsaid. A short ending with can, will, have or another helping verb can refer back to that earlier action. It is a complete spoken message even without repeating the main verb. Keep any negative, too or as well that follows. There is no need to fill out the shortened part when you type. Understanding the missing action helps you follow the sentence, but only the words actually spoken belong in your answer.
