Ellipsis & Substitution Dictation: Do and So as Substitutes

Use the first clause to understand what do, does or did stands for later. The speaker can avoid repeating an action by using that short verb, sometimes with so. Listen for the form itself: does links to a singular subject, and did places the reference in the past. Keep not where it is spoken, because it changes whether the action happens. Do not write out the earlier action again in the shortened clause. The point here is to hear a full message expressed with fewer repeated words.
