Wish & If Only Dictation: Past Regrets
B2 Level
English Exercises is teacher-led by Charlie. About the teacher · How content is made
Catch had and the past participle after wish. They look back at something the speaker regrets. Wishing an action had happened suggests it did not; wishing it had not happened regrets doing it. That makes not a small but crucial word to hear. Listen for any before or other detail explaining the timing of the regretted event. Keep the full wish as spoken. You do not need to rewrite it as a statement of what really happened or invent an outcome the speaker does not mention.
