Noun + Preposition Mixed Practice (Intermediate)
B1-B2 Level
This intermediate exercise tests a wider range of noun + preposition combinations, including
phrases commonly found in news articles, academic texts, and formal writing. You will encounter
combinations such as demand for, effect on, experience
with, attitude to, and influence on. At B1-B2 level,
accuracy with these fixed phrases becomes increasingly important for essays, reports, and formal
communication.
The questions mix prepositions from all the groups you have studied: "for," "to," "of," "in," "on," "with," "between," and "about." This means you cannot rely on a single pattern — you must know each combination individually. Pay particular attention to nouns that are easily confused: "attitude to" or "attitude towards" (both correct, but "attitude of" is wrong), "demand for" (not "demand of"), and "influence on" (not "influence to"). At this level, the combinations become less predictable and more dependent on individual memorisation. Regular exposure through reading English newspapers and listening to podcasts helps you absorb these phrases naturally, which is excellent preparation for Cambridge B2 First and IELTS examinations.
