Past Continuous Dictation: Interrupted Actions
B1 Level
English Exercises is teacher-led by Charlie. About the teacher · How content is made
Picture the activity already happening, then the event that occurs during it. The first uses was or were with an ing form; the shorter event has a past simple verb. That event may stop the activity, but it can also simply happen while the activity continues. Listen for when between the two parts and for irregular past forms in the event. Keep each verb as heard. You do not need to turn both actions into the same tense to tell the story.
