Participle Clauses Error Correction
B2-C1 Level
This participle clauses error correction exercise trains learners to
proofread reduced clauses with -ing participles, past
participles, and perfect participles.
Wrong: "Finished the safety briefing, Lena locked the training room." Correct: "Having finished the safety briefing, Lena locked the training room."
Wrong: "Designing by a local architect, the library won an award." Correct: "Designed by a local architect, the library won an award."
The main risk is subject control: the participle clause must describe the subject of the main clause. This route keeps repairs local so learners practise participle form and attachment rather than rewriting every sentence into a full finite clause.
